I have been using the Alive Water Vortex System for only such a short time and I am astounded at the results so far!
Coming from Australia originally, where our water is not that great, nothing prepared me for London water! After having one shower after we got off the plane was shocking enough for my skin and hair. It felt SO dry and itchy!! I knew there and then that something was not right with the water over here.
I had been using a shower head filter, over the last 2 years, which did help a fair bit but I still needed to put cream on my skin very often, otherwise it would feel and look quite dry.
Today more than ever before, optimum filtration is necessary not only for well-known pollutants, but also for the less well-known ones too. For a number of years, chlorine has been replaced by chloramines in our tap water. Chloramines are highly toxic, carcinogenic and the by-product is 10,000 times more toxic than chlorine.
We may be unaware that in addition to drinking water containing these pollutants, this water is also used to take a shower as well as to wash dishes and clothes.
In addition, heavy metals, pharmaceutical residues, hormones, birth control pills, anti-depressants, artificial sugars and more may still remain in the water.
We have developed water filtration which addresses these types of contaminants.
With ordinary powdered media for filtration, water usually forms channels as this media becomes compacted. As a result, most of the water bypasses the media and makes little contact with it, or it may become plugged. (See image1 below)
Our proprietary media is made into a sponge-like porous material (EcoMedia) which has the media baked on. This ensures that all of the water makes contact with this sponge-like porous material, resulting in a 50 times greater surface area. As a result, our filters last longer than conventional ones. This combined solution provides purified and activated water throughout the home. Only the filter cartridges need to be changed, 10” filter cartridges, every 18-24 months and 20” filter cartridges every 24-36 months, depending on usage.
DBPs are over 10,000 times more toxic than chlorine, and out of all the other toxins and contaminants present in water, such as fluoride and miscellaneous pharmaceutical drugs, DBPs are likely to be the most toxic.
It is already known that trihalomethanes (THMs), one of the most common DBPs, are Cancer Group B carcinogens, meaning they have been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. They have been linked to reproductive problems in both animals and humans, such as spontaneous abortion, stillbirths, and congenital malformations, even at lower levels. These types of DBPs can also:
Chlorinated disinfection agents such as chlorine and chloramine are strong oxidising agents. When introduced into water, they produce a range of DBPs such as the trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetic acids (HAAs), and chlorite. Chloramine has been found to produce N-nitroso dimethylamine (NDMA), which is a possible human carcinogen. Residual chlorine (and other disinfectants) may also react further within the distribution network—both by further reactions with dissolved natural organic matter and with biofilms present in the pipes.
Installing a Vortex unit after the filtration system activates and restructures the water, helping to hydrate the skin, to clean dirt and grease more efficiently as well as helping to increase intra-cellular hydration. Limescale is turned into a soft scale called Aragonite.
Traditional processes applied in water softening and lime scale prevention are ion exchange and reverse osmosis. Both methods remove excess hardness salts from water. These are reliable but rather expensive methods. An alternative way to prevent limescale formation is the structural change of hardness salts into modifications that remain in suspension in small particles and do not form hard crystalline deposits. Scale usually consists of calcium carbonate in the calcite modification.
However, there is another modification of calcium carbonate – aragonite. Aggregation of aragonite crystals and their adsorption on solid surfaces are substantially lower than those of calcite. Aragonite precipitates in the form of fragile and loose particles and stays in the bulk of the liquid rather than deposit on the walls of pipes and appliances. Until recently, magnetic descaling of water was the only method based on the aragonite formation. Treatment of hard water with a Vortex system in various geographical regions revealed that the water passed through the saturated filter does not form scale. It gradually washes away the old scale.
This phenomenon, referred to as “quasi-softening” of water, has been studied in detail. Formation of aragonite structure of hardness salts as a result of water passage through a Vortex system was confirmed experimentally. The structural transformation of the precipitate to form rhombic aragonite crystals is clearly seen through a microscope. As determined by X-ray diffraction, the content of aragonite modification of calcium carbonate in water substantially increases after filtration through a Vortex system.
A study by Vienna University performed on hard water in Spain, Austria, and Germany, confirmed the “quasi-softening” of the water due to the accumulation of aragonite. On the basis of obtained results, a mechanism of this phenomenon was proposed.
In the course of filtration through a Vortex system, calcite is transformed into aragonite with a noticeable change in the mineral composition of water. The “quasi-softening” occurs without any other additional equipment and is due only to the unique properties of the Vortex system material.
The VCB Quad Vortex Water Activator system needs to be installed in the following way.
On the filter housing, you will see a flow direction. An “IN” and an “OUT”. The location of where the mains water feed enters the home is required. Water from the mains needs to enter the water filter housing first indicated by “IN”, then water needs to flow “OUT” into the VCB to the “IN” connection. From the “OUT” connection, the water pipe needs to be connected back to the mains so that the water can flow into the whole house.
When installing the filter housing, make sure that there is enough room to be able to replace the filter cartridges. When it is time to change the filter cartridges, make sure the water is turned off, then gently open the housings using the spanner/wrench (included).
